MY STORY
Over the last twenty years, Brent Xavier has held a variety of positions in the hospitality, marketing, and legal sectors. His success as an entrepreneur, advisor, and investor can be credited to the experience he gained from working in each of those respective industries, from which he developed a unique approach to every professional venture he undertakes: business development is futile without a service-first mentality.
This mindset has prompted Brent Xavier to pursue the next phase of his career in business development, specifically in the legal services industry. He is currently building a brand that will help traditional law firms grow their businesses by capitalizing on opportunities not typically utilized by attorneys. This idea evolved from Brent’s observations and experiences in leveraging best practices to grow his own law firm.
In order to fully immerse himself in this next venture, Brent Xavier stepped down as President of Xavier + Associates after leading the law firm for over ten years. Brent’s tenure with Xavier + Associates began after he graduated from New York Law School with a Juris Doctor in 2006. Following graduation, Brent moved back to Central New York to begin preparing for the bar exam. Not long after passing the exam, he met an attorney based out of Syracuse, New York that wanted Brent’s help growing his firm. Brent consulted with him for a few months and soon realized the company’s tremendous potential, so he bought a large stake in the practice in 2007.
Over the next ten years, he grew the business by approximately 500%, making Xavier + Associates one of the largest criminal defense firms in the United States. Brent Xavier credits the firm’s success to two things: the development of a strong brand called the DWI Guy and providing top-rated service in a sector where the customer experience is regularly overlooked. Never one to forgo a lucrative opportunity, Brent also founded SaltCity CrossFit during his time with Xavier + Associates. In just over a year, the gym grew to two locations with over 500 athletes and was already generating a return on investment. A few years later, Brent sold SaltCity CrossFit to a local competitor.
Prior to attending law school, Brent Xavier served as Assistant Director of Finance at Grey Advertising, an advertising and marketing agency that provides marketing, branding, public relations, and other services to national and international companies. Before his three-year tenure at Grey, Brent Xavier also held various roles in the hospitality sector. One such position was Controller at Tavern on the Green, a historic restaurant in Central Park that serves seasonal American fare and classic cocktails. At the time, Tavern on the Green was the number one grossing restaurant in the United States, generating around $35 million in annual revenue.
His opportunity with Tavern on the Green materialized after an extensive year long Management Training Program at Chart House Enterprises where Brent Xavier was trained to manage their New York City area restaurant. He was recruited by Chart House after graduating from the Hotel School at Cornell University in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in Hotel Administration. While at Cornell, Brent worked in a variety of capacities at different local businesses to gain experience in the hospitality sector.
Brent Xavier grew up and currently resides in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. When he’s not working, Brent can be found cooking, entertaining, enjoying the great outdoors, and spending time with his daughter, Sydney. He also practices mixed martial arts and participates in various water and snow sports throughout the summer and winter seasons.
